You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges for the services that you receive could potentially be. The purpose of the GFE is to provide you with an estimate of the cost for the services that you may receive. It is not entirely possible for the provider to know how many services you will receive and the frequency of the services. The amount of services that you receive and the type of services that you receive will impact the cost of your total services. Your circumstances may be different thus resulting in more or less sessions required for care. This estimate is not a contract, and does not obligate you to attend the amount of services listed or the type of services listed as an estimation of cost, not including emergencies.
If you are consenting to out of network/self pay care and you are not using your insurance your provider legally must provide you with a notice estimating how much your care may cost at least one business day prior to your service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 over your GFE you are entitled to dispute the bill.
